Monastic Inspirations Pilgrimage

2-5pm on Sunday 5th July from St Peter’s, Cornworthy to St David’s, Ashprington – guided by Sarah and Sam

This is a short, one way, guided afternoon pilgrimage offered on a donation basis (£20 – £60 suggested, according to means). More details below. To book please email Sam at livingspirit3@gmail.com or message 07979 057169

This pilgrimage is a collaboration between two contemporary monastics, inspired by West Country contemplative traditions. Before the English Reformation and Dissolution of the Monasteries, Cornworthy contained one of the most westerly Priories, which, together with the church, was run by a community of nuns for several hundred years.

Before we begin our walk, Sarah will share her research on the Priory and our silent walk will include pauses for further contemplative reflections and encounters with pockets of saltmarsh along the Way.

This section of our Salmon and Saltmarsh route includes a particularly interesting and beautiful walk along the waterside, following Bow Creek, and it ends in another lovely church and churchyard, featuring some wonderful wild woodwork! (A glimpse of which is shown here). The forecast is fine & we anticipate enjoying a sunny, summer walk.
